Exchange Reflections

The Idea

The pandemic forced many organizations and communities to adapt. Exchange Press was no exception. We felt the immense pressure of isolation that had hit early childhood education communities. It became quite clear to the world that ECE was essential work, helping families cope and allowing them to do their jobs. At Exchange Press, we struggled to figure out ways we could support ECE professionals.

I proposed an idea to the team: Can we transform an article from our magazine into a dynamic training tool? Can we create a team-building resource out of what we already have? I was imagining a book club but with early childhood education topics.

Design

The task was ambitious: develop this new product within a tight timeline, with no budget, while leveraging existing resources. It also needed to be visually cohesive, effective as a training, and delivered digitally. I led the creation of Exchange Reflections, a professional development tool designed to foster reflective practice and strengthen connections among isolated teams.

The Result

Exchange Reflections was launched and was a resounding success. Exchange Reflections provided educators with a structure for remote team building and much needed social connection. Over time, we developed more than 100 Exchange Reflections, including Reflexiones de Exchange in Spanish. I feel this project not only addressed an immediate challenge but also was impactful on professional growth within the ECE community.
